In 2017, we celebrate our fifth subscription season with an exploration of vibrant early classical music from Madrid, Paris, Salzburg, Vienna, Prague and Berlin featuring their beloved composers Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, C.P.E. Bach and Boccherini. We also present some interesting lesser-known composers such as Cambini, Janitsch and Chevalier de Saint-Georges.
As always, we aim to present music that both inspires us and engages our audiences, whether it be well-loved favourites heard in a new way, or unearthed treasures by composers we can’t wait for you to discover! This year we have a host of programs that follow this philosophy and we are thrilled to present them to you.
We are especially delighted that we will return to City Recital Hall for two programs and also feature international fortepianist Melvyn Tan, along with some of our fabulous regular collaborators.
I hope you will join us and we look forward to seeing you at the concerts!
Artistic Director & Violin
AHE are incredibly excited to present international pianist, Melvyn Tan in a program inspired by the beauty and romance of classical Paris.
‘La Chasse’ or ‘The Hunt’ was a popular theme of the 18th century. This intimate chamber music program intertwines quartets based on this fascination with music for the oboe - an instrument then often associated with hunt.
Acclaimed historical keyboardist, Dr. Neal Peres Da Costa, joins AHE to complete their cycle of Beethoven’s piano concertos in chamber format, with Beethoven’s masterpiece Piano Concerto No. 5 ‘The Emperor’.
Over the past five years, AHE have formed a wonderful collaborative relationship with regular guest Dr Erin Helyard. For our finale in 2017, Helyard returns to direct a dazzling symphonic program and perform as soloist in C.P.E. Bach’s Keyboard Concerto in B minor.
